Curriculum 

 

We aim to provide a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, which will develop the creative, aesthetic and spiritual areas of experience in all children, as well as promoting the command of language and the acquisition of mathematical and scientific understanding.

Foundation Stage

All children are within the Foundation Stage until the school year starts in the September after their 5th birthday.  The Foundation Stage therefore includes all children in Nursery (Hamsters Class) and Reception (Hedgehogs Class). 
 

Children within the Foundation Stage follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum.  

In the Early Years Foundation Stage there are 7 areas of learning. 

 

Three Prime areas: 
 

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  • Physical Development

  • Communication and Language

 

Plus four specific areas:
 

  • Literacy

  • Numeracy

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive Arts and Design

Key Stage 1 & 2

We aim to provide a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, which will develop the creative, aesthetic and spiritual areas of experience in all children, as well as promoting the command of language and the acquisition of mathematical and scientific understanding.

 

All Key Stage 1 & 2 children participate in the National Curriculum. This comprises the ten compulsory subjects. You can click each subject heading for more information.

 

 

In addition, children at Eaton Bray Academy are taught:

 

Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE). Religious Education (RE). Modern Foreign Languages (French and/or Spanish).
