At Eaton Bray Academy we believe that our computing curriculum reflects computing as being

  • Skills in using the software and hardware available to them, and adapting to use new technology. These skills are progressively built upon and are clearly set out. This is also adapted as needed, as technology and our local community changes.
  • Knowledge of digital literacy, computer science and digital technology
  • Understanding of safety in the digital world- how to keep themselves and others safe.
  • Attitudes towards computing which reflect our school values
    Kind – Honest – Responsible – Appreciative – Resilient – Courageous
and which ensure that children use their skills and knowledge in the best way possible.
  • Collaboration and co-operation with other subjects across the school to deepen skills further

Through computing we encourage children to develop skills which will be essential for their future lives in an ever-changing landscape. Computing allows individuals to access a digital and technological world which is becoming integral to all aspects of life.

We believe that computing contributes to our school’s values and beliefs and enables pupils to become inspired, lifelong learners in an area which will impact on their lives in an ever-evolving manner. A secure understanding of computing will provide them with strong foundations for their future learning and use of technology.

Through teaching computing, we also provide children with the skills and knowledge to remain safe, not only while in school but also while in the digital world while at home and beyond their time with us.
