Year 1 (Otters) Class
In Year 1, we incorporate many of the things that the children will have been used to in Reception to ensure that transition to KS1 can be a positive and nurturing experience.
We have high expectations for the children, with a particular focus on phonics and reading.
You can support your child by reading regularly with them at home. This will include their ‘Little Wandle’ reading book and also enjoying the library books that they love to choose and share with you.

Maths will continue to use ‘Maths Mastery’ techniques that the children will be familiar with and they will also start to study National Curriculum subjects, building on the knowledge and skills that they developed during their time in Hedgehogs class.
