Attendance
We are Attendance Heroes - Here, Everyday, Ready, On time. Do all of this to cheer up Teddy McTime!
Why is it important to be here, every day?
Being in school every day makes a big difference to your child’s learning.
- Each lesson builds on the one before, so if children miss school, they can quickly fall behind.
- Even a few days off can mean missing important teaching, which can make it harder to catch up later.
Even small amounts of absence add up over the year:
5% absence rate
- 3,800 minutes lost
- about 63 hours of learning
- nearly 10 full school days missed
10% absence rate
- 7,600 minutes lost
- about 127 hours of learning
- nearly 20 full school days missed
By making sure your child comes to school every day, you are giving them the best chance to achieve, grow in confidence, and enjoy their time at school.

- Nuts
- Peanut butter
- Nutella
- Other unbranded chocolate nut spread
- Pesto
If you send your child to school with one of these items in their lunchbox, it will be removed and returned to you.
Medication
If you think your child may require medication during the school day (for example an inhaler or epi pen) please ensure this is taken to the school office first thing in the morning by an adult.
Note In order for us to administer any medication please ensure that a Parental Agreement for setting to administer medication form has been completed.
Please remember as per our school policy all medications should:
- Have the pharmacy label attached including the child’s name and dosage information.
(For inhalers these are usually on the inhaler box so please keep these) - Please bring the medication including packaging and a spoon or syringe to administer the medication
- Please check your child’s Asthma plan and ensure it is up to date (these usually last for 12 months)
- If your child has an Epi Pen then please bring your child’s Emergency Care Plan and medication to the school office
If you require us to administer over the counter medication during the school day, please bring the medication including packaging and a spoon or syringe to administer the medication and complete a medication permission form.
A reminder for safeguarding reasons:
- Children should not have any medication in their school bags
- All medication should be brought to school by an adult
- To ensure there are no side effects, the first dose of any medication must have been administered by yourself or a medical practitioner before we are able to administer any dosage in school.
- If there have been any changes to your child’s medical needs or medication requirements please let the school know as soon as possible so we can best support your child during their time with us in school.
