At Eaton Bray Academy we are lucky enough to have a variety of areas in our school grounds, including a large wooded area. We use this for ‘Forest School’. Two of our staff are trained Level 3 Advanced Forest School Leaders. We believe in Forest School for all and as part of our inclusive practice, are working to ensure all EBA children receive Forest School sessions. Using the school minibus we can also use other local areas for Forest School –including Longrove (Studham) and Ashridge Forest.
‘Forest School is an inspirational concept providing learning opportunities through practical activities in an outdoor environment. Participants of all ages enjoy the freedom to explore and experience the natural world in all seasons and in all weathers. It can be personally and socially uplifting, so laying firm foundations for other learning. Unlike other forms of outdoor education, Forest School embraces an approach of nurturing, supporting and developing the self-esteem of participants. It is an ideal environment in which to develop innovation, problem solving, risk taking, creativity and teamwork.’ Bridgwater College
