Having lived in Eaton Bray since 1993 where two of my children attended the school I am firmly grounded in the community serving as a Parochial Church Council member at Eaton Bray St Mary the Virgin where I take part in leading Messy Church with young children and their families. I run the bookstall at the village Carnival. I am also a pastoral visitor to ailing elderly locals in need of support as well as a volunteer at the Luton and Dunstable Chaplaincy and end of life companion. I am therefore a people person.
I have worked in education all my life first as a Secondary Teacher of French and German (1981-1990) and subsequently as a University Lecturer since 1990 at Luton, then Bedfordshire, Buckingham and now at Northampton where I lead the BA French degree. I have also worked with student support, delivered B. Ed Primary Language specialism courses and visited my students on teaching placements in their exchange schools in Grenoble, France and in a number of Primary schools in Bedfordshire. I am also an External Examiner at De Montfort University Leicester and on the International Baccalaureate.
I am deeply committed to developing reflexive thinking, endurance and excellence in children as well as supporting teaching and learning.
I enjoy travelling, reading, singing and writing.
