Richard Bell
I have been a GP in the Edlesborough and Eaton Bray Surgery for more than 20 years. I have also been School Medical officer to a private school in Markyate for 30 years and have always been interested in Education.
For many years I have worked as a GP trainer for Doctors intending to pursue a career in General Practice and we have trained many GP's, some of whom have remained in the local area.
I am aware of the strengths and challenges of running a relatively small business effectively and am aware of the Government pressures to encourage merging of schools and management, having faced similar pressures within General Practice.
On a personal level I enjoy playing the violin in an orchestra for relaxation and outdoor activities as a challenge. During the last few years I have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Toubkal in Morocco and cycled London to Paris. After completing the Three Peak Challenge recently and The Fastnet Yacht race last year I am enjoying the pleasures of being a new Grandparent.
Approaching Medical retirement, I hope to be able to contribute what I can to the well established board of Governors to further the interests of Eaton Bray Academy.
