At Eaton Bray Academy, we like to celebrate children's achievements, both in and out of the classroom.  We know that many of our pupils enjoy clubs and activities outside of school, and are rightly proud of their accomplishments and the awards they attain, whether that be sporting trophies, music or dance exams, competition wins or anything else worth celebrating!

So this page will be all about the children, and what they achieve outside of school.  We are always keen to hear of any awards and accomplishments that we can share - if you would like your child's special achievement to be celebrated, please contact us to tell us all about it!

Millie's Certificate of Excellence

Millie made a wonderful impression on her new teachers when she visited her secondary school for the first time in July 2017.  Her good behaviour and attitude resulted in a certificate and a lovely letter from Manshead CE Academy:

"Dear Millie, It was a pleasure to welcome you to Manshead CE Academy for the Transition Days.  We would like to congratulate you on your excellent attitude to learning across the two days.  We were impressed by your enthusiasm and the respect you displayed towards our school and community.  We look forward to seeing you in September."

Kayleigh Kayaks to Medal Glory!

On Sunday 30th April 2017, Kayleigh took part in the Bedford Hasler Kayak Championships, parcicipating in the Under 10s class, which entails racing over a distance of 2.5km.

Kayleigh's time was 23 minutes 53 seconds, which gave her second place in the girls race!  She also acheived third place in the Under 12 Doubles alongside her brother Leon.

Congratulations to Kayleigh and Leon - a fantastic result!

Freddie and George swim for Comic Relief

On 20th March 2016 Freddie and George Flack and family completed a swimathon of 200 lengths with Freddie completing 54 lengths and George 32. To date they have raised £165 for sport relief. Well done the Flack family!

Joshua and William compete in the Aquathlon

On Sunday 5th October 2014, Joshua and William competed in the Bedford Junior Aquathlon, representing Eaton Bray Academy.  This involved swimming 4 lengths of a 33m pool, with a timed transition to change, followed immediately with a 1200m run around Bedford Park when wet.  They were competing against children from Bedford Boys and Bedford Girls Schools, and the results were as follows:

Joshua - 2nd place out of all of the year 4 boys.
William - 3rd place out of all of the year 4 boys.

We think they showed great stamina and good sporting attitude.

Amelia's Colouring Competition Win

During the summer holidays, Amelia won the colouring competition in the Leighton Buzzard Young Families magazine. She enjoyed buying new clothes with the £50 voucher prize!

Well done Amelia!

Freddie's Duathlon

On 7th September, Freddie took part in the Tri For Life Duathlon at Woburn Abbey. This involved three sets of athletic activity, across two disciplines: running and cycling.

There were 57 competitors aged 9-15, and Freddie was the youngest. He came 7th out of 57 with a time of 16:47.

It was a great event - very well organised but quite daunting and he took it in his stride!

A big well done to Freddie!

Roxanne's Art Competition Win

Roxanne entered an art competition earlier this year, and her beautiful picture was chosen by Bedford Borough Council to use in their brochures and leaflets. It is also hanging up in their offices!

Roxanne named her picture BFF (Best Friends Forever).

When asked what her artistic influences were, she said "my life."  She has a best friend who she holds hands with and makes daisy chains with at school.  She has chosen two different skin colours to represent diversity, and to show how this shouldn't matter.

This is all detailed in a plaque which hangs alongside the picture.

Fantastic Roxanne - well done to you!
